Welcome to McComb, Ms. McComb is a small
friendly city
nestled in the southwest corner of
Mississippi, 108 miles
north of New Orleans, Louisiana, and 81 miles south of Jackson Mississippi.
McComb was founded in 1872 by
Col. H. S. McComb, the president of the Mississippi Central Railroad. He
founded McComb as a railroad town with its single track as a hub, surrounding
it with shops and terminal facilities. McComb was selected as "The Hospitality City" of "The Hospitality State" three years in a row. McComb is a state designated retirement community with tax savings for seniors, including income tax exemptions for retirement income. A financial resource Web site, Walletpop.com, has ranked McComb at No. 9 on its list of the top 20 communities to retire in the U.S. It cited state tax laws in which retirees pay no incomes taxes, local hospitality, climate and home prices as the reasons the area would appeal to retirees. The site noted that with median house values at $113,000, McComb
is the least expensive place to retire on the top 20 list. “What a
combination, and a real hidden gem. Parks and porches abound. Live oaks,
walking paths and a great way of life in this very special place”.
